Meet the All-Stars and Their Teams! The players have been strategically divided into three squads, hand-picked by the NBA itself.
USA Stripes: This powerhouse team features Boston's Jaylen Brown, New York's Jalen Brunson, Golden State's Stephen Curry (who will be replaced by Toronto's Brandon Ingram due to injury), Houston's Kevin Durant, the Lakers' LeBron James, the Clippers' Kawhi Leonard, Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell, and Miami's Norman Powell. They'll be coached by San Antonio's Mitch Johnson.
USA Stars: Get ready for Toronto's Scottie Barnes, Phoenix's Devin Booker, Detroit's Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren, Minnesota's Anthony Edwards, Oklahoma City's Chet Holmgren, Atlanta's Jalen Johnson, and Philadelphia's Tyrese Maxey. Leading this talented group is coach J.B. Bickerstaff of the Detroit Pistons.
World: This international dream team boasts Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo, Portland's Deni Avdija, the Lakers' Luka Doncic, Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (with Houston's Alperen Sengun stepping in as an injury replacement), Denver's Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, Indiana's Pascal Siakam, New York's Karl-Anthony Towns, and San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama. Their coach is Darko Rajakovic from Toronto.
And this is the part most people miss: The format for the USA vs. the World game is unique! The two U.S. teams each have eight players, while the World team has nine. Each game will be a standard 12-minute NBA quarter. The USA Stars will face the World in Game 1. The winner of that matchup will then take on the USA Stripes in Game 2. The loser of Game 1 will play the USA Stripes in Game 3. The two teams with the best records will advance to the championship game. If all three teams end up with a 1-1 record, the point differential will be the tiebreaker.
Who's the Favorite? According to BetMGM Sportsbook, the USA Stripes are the frontrunners to win the tournament at +160 odds. The World team follows closely at +170, with the USA Stars at +200.
MVP Watch: The top contenders for the All-Star MVP award are Victor Wembanyama (+700 odds), Luka Doncic (+1000), and Cade Cunningham (+1100).
The Skill Contestants: Get ready for some incredible displays of shooting and athleticism!
- 3-point Contest: Competing for the title are Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey, Norman Powell, Donovan Mitchell, Bobby Portis, Kon Knueppel, and Damian Lillard. Dame Time is back! Even though he hasn't played this season, Lillard is set to light up the 3-point contest.
- Slam-Dunk Contest: Prepare to be amazed by Carter Bryant, Keshad Johnson, Jaxson Hayes, and Jase Richardson.
