Seahawks' Darnold Confident in Oblique Recovery Ahead of Super Bowl LX
With just four days until Super Bowl LX, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is feeling confident about his recovery from a left oblique injury. Despite playing through the injury in both playoff games, including the NFC Championship against the Los Angeles Rams, Darnold is now focused on getting back to full strength.
"It feels really good," Darnold said on Wednesday. "The time off has definitely helped. I'm taking it one step at a time, doing my rehab, and making sure it feels great going into practice and the game on Sunday."
Head coach Mike Macdonald echoed this sentiment, stating that Darnold is "in a great spot" and progressing daily. However, the question remains about Darnold's practice participation this week. Since sustaining the injury on January 15, the Seahawks have listed him as a limited participant in all seven injury reports.
After his performance against the Rams, Macdonald revealed that Darnold barely practiced that week. The Seahawks arrived in the Bay Area on Sunday and resumed workouts on Monday, maintaining their regular weekly schedule. They will practice for the rest of the week at San Jose State University.
Macdonald provided an update on Darnold's practice involvement, "It's definitely gradually increasing by the day. Some days more than others. He's in a great spot, and he's really confident. We'll see how today plays out. I'm not entirely sure how many throws or what percentage of throws."
The Seahawks and Patriots will release their first injury reports of the week later on Wednesday, providing further insight into Darnold's availability and the team's overall health ahead of the Super Bowl.
