Unveiling the Asics Gel-Cumulus 28: Improved Cushioning and Performance (2026)

Asics Unveils the Gel-Cumulus 28: A Lightweight Running Companion

Japanese sportswear brand Asics is gearing up to release the latest iteration of its beloved Gel-Cumulus series, the Gel-Cumulus 28, offering a blend of performance and style.

Building on the success of its predecessor, the Gel-Cumulus 27, Asics has made significant enhancements to create a more responsive and durable running shoe. The Gel-Cumulus 28 features an upgraded FF Blast Max foam setup, which Asics claims provides 'cloud-like landings' and responsive toe-offs, ensuring a comfortable and energetic running experience.

One of the standout improvements is the new AHAR(Asics High Abrasion Rubber) Lo rubber in the heel, designed to offer superior traction and longevity. This innovation ensures that runners can tackle various terrains with confidence, knowing their shoes will withstand the test of time.

Asics has also focused on reducing weight without compromising on performance. The Gel-Cumulus 28 is lighter than its predecessor, weighing in at 259 grams (9.1 ounces) for men's size 9, a slight reduction from the 265 grams (9.3 ounces) of the Gel-Cumulus 27.

Despite these upgrades, Asics has maintained the familiar traits that have made the Gel-Cumulus franchise a favorite among runners. The shoe boasts an 8 mm drop height, PureGel technology in the heel for added comfort, and Fluidride outsoles for smooth transitions and traction.

Asics has also expanded its horizons beyond running shoes, gaining traction with its Sportstyle offerings. From Kiko Kostadinov's avant-garde designs to the Gel-Kinetic SP derby-sneaker mash-up, the brand has been making waves in the fashion world.

The Gel-Cumulus 28 will be available at the end of February, priced at $145 for both men's and women's sizes. With eight men's launch styles and nine women's colorways, there's something for every runner to enjoy.

Get ready to experience the ultimate in lightweight running with Asics' latest release, the Gel-Cumulus 28.
